     Reverend John Lothropp was baptized on 20 December 1584 at Etton, Yorkshire, England.2,3 He was the son of Thomas Lothropp and Maude (--?--). Reverend John Lothropp graduated from Queen's College, Cambridge, England, with a B.A. in 1605 and with an M.A. in 1609.4 He married Hannah House, daughter of Reverend John House, on 10 October 1610 at Eastwell, Kent, England.5,3 Reverend John Lothropp was imprisoned for his religious beliefs from 22 April 1632 to 1634 at Clink prison, London, England.6 John arrived aboard the Griffen on 18 September 1634 at Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.7 He married Anna (--?--) on 14 June 1635 at Barnstable, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.8,3 Reverend John Lothropp died on 8 November 1653 at Barnstable at age 68.9,10,11 He was buried on 10 November 1653 at Barnstable.3

    "The Griffin and another ship now arriving with about 200 passengers. Mr. Lathrop and Mr. Sims, two godly ministers coming in the same ship."

    The next page of the journal has this item, which shows how tender the conscience of Mr. Lothropp was on a question of Christian propriety.

    "Mr. Lathrop had been pastor of a private congregation in London, and for the same, kept long time in prison, uponòV²."
