     Caroline True Harmon was born on 19 April 1811 at Portland, Cumberland County, Maine.3,4,5,6,7,8 She was the daughter of Robert Harmon and Eunice Gould.1,2 Caroline True Harmon married Mace Clough on 2 June 1835 at Portland.9,1 Caroline and Mace appeared on the 1850 Federal Census, of Woolwich, Lincoln County, Maine, enumerated 29 August 1850. Their children Wilbur Fiske, Caroline L., Mary Ella and Ada M. were listed as living with them.10 Caroline and Mace appeared on the 1860 Federal Census, of Wakarusa Township, Douglas County, Kansas, enumerated 5 July 1860. Their children Wilbur Fiske, Caroline L., Mary Ella and Ada M. were listed as living with them, as well as H. D. Akers who was probably a boarder.11 Caroline and Mace appeared on the 1865 Kansas State Census, of Gardner, Johnson County, Kansas, enumerated 17 July 1865, where Mace was a Methodist Episcopal preacher. Their children Mary Ella and Ada M. were listed as living with them.12 In 1872 her sister Ellen wrote her son about Caroline: "You may be anxious to hear in regard to my sister, your aunt. You have never seen her. She is an understanding, intelligent woman, living, I think, up to the best light she has had. She is a powerful singer. This is as much her talent as speaking is mine. I think I never heard a voice that would thrill the soul like hers. We are having a most precious time. They have a very pretty location. The house is small, but convenient for this country. Brother Clough and Caroline are intent upon our remaining over."13 Caroline appeared on the 1875 Kansas State Census of Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas, listed as keeping house with real estate valued at $1500 and personal property at $200.14 Caroline appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Centropolis, Franklin County, Kansas, enumerated 18 June 1880. Her daughter Mary Ella was listed as living with her, also in the household were her grandsons Frank Fair and Charles Fair, children of her daughter Addie.15 Caroline True Harmon died on 29 March 1883 at Paola, Miami County, Kansas, at age 71.4 She was buried on 31 March 1883 at Paola Cemetery, Paola, Miami County, Kansas.
