     David Lewis Heligass was born about 1847 at New York.2 He married Marcella Sophia Hopkins, daughter of Lorenzo Danforth Hopkins and Lydia Augusta Holcomb, on 5 December 1869 at Lynxville, Crawford County, Wisconsin.3 David and Marcella appeared on the 1870 Federal Census, of Seneca Township, Crawford County, Wisconsin, enumerated 5 July 1870.4 At the time of the 1870 census, David Lewis Heligass was a boatman at Seneca Township.5 He died on 10 February 1930.6
